The Role

We are looking for an experienced research professional to lead the research support team in the Institute for Lifecourse Development to provide high quality research services to support our growing research, knowledge exchange and impact activities, and ensure we continue to build our strong research environment. You will be responsible for working with academics and research staff to support and lead in the development of significant new research and knowledge exchange opportunities, and to ensure the ILD makes a measurable impact on policy and practice in line with our REF and KEF ambitions.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with academic research and practice oriented staff and have excellent knowledge of UK-related funding streams for research, knowledge exchange and impact.

We are looking for a Research and Knowledge Exchange Manager who will:


	Work with academics and practitioners (e.g. in health and education professions) to drive sustainable growth in research and knowledge exchange income, helping to increase bidding success rates and forging strong relationships with a wide range of external partners.
	Lead in advising academics and practitioners on developing pathways to impact and measuring and evaluating ILD Impact.
	Work collaboratively with business operations colleagues within the Faculty and finance directorate to develop opportunities and monitor their delivery and outcomes.
	Work closely with Associate Dean Research and Knowledge Exchange (FEHHS)/Director of ILD, Deputy Director of ILD, ILD Centre Leads and Practice leads, and Greenwich Research and Innovation (GRI) and lead on identifying, collating and recording evidence required for statutory REF and KEF returns, and to make recommendations on how Faculty research, knowledge exchange and impact performance can be maximised.
	Manage a team of research support administrative staff within the institute and oversee the day-to-day operations of the support function.
	The role is primarily based at the Greenwich campus with the requirement to work across all University of Greenwich campuses on a regular basis.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to join School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering.

The position will contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching including teaching in the highly successful Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Construction Management and Quantity Surveying), where QUT is known for industry connections, real-world application of theory and evidence-based practice. The successful incumbent will have a record of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and bring strength to all aspects of quality teaching, including conceptualising, designing, delivering and reviewing curricula. Teaching areas of particular interest include – but are not limited to – methods of measurement, contract administration, and cost planning and control. The successful candidate will also provide high-impact research outcomes, delivered in collaboration with researchers across the School, Faculty and the University and with external partners in government and industry.

The Role

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in nanoparticle chemistry, encompassing synthesis, characterization and working with our colleagues in engineering to perform application testing, is available from 1st June 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of 24 months, to work in association with Dr Simon Beaumont. The goal of the project is to provide porous coatings for thermochemical sorption materials, an important net-zero enabling technology The project will specifically focus on breathable nanoscale coating methods for key sorption materials to overcome challenges in their re-use, reliability and energy density. It is a close collaboration with Dr Zhiwei Ma's group in the Durham University Department of Engineering, who is the overall project's principal investigator and will be modelling and testing materials we produce.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead the wet chemistry nanoparticle and nanoscale coating work (synthesis and characterization) in the Department of Chemistry, and collaborate effectively with engineers on the testing and applicability of these materials.

This post is fixed term for 24 months [the funding is available from 01/06/2025 for this fixed period only].

The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols.

Successful applicants will, ideally, be in post by 01st June 2025.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a demonstration scale low pressure membrane system in collaboration with Atera Water Pte Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

Applicants are invited for a Research Engineer in low pressure membrane system (LPMS). Reporting to the Project Principal Investigator (PI), you will assist in all administration matters including overseeing, planning, forecasting, budgeting as well as ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations for the project


	Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students or student helpers under the Project PI.
	Assist in designing, planning and setting up of a demonstration scale LPMS plant at a site allocated by PUB.
	Assist in designing, planning and setting up of a lab-scale LPMS plant at a SIT Punggol campus
	Assist in carrying out of experiment, data logging and analysis of data collected.
	Work with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results generated by an expert to correlate with experimental data
	Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects.
	Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the program director and PI.
	Support the procurement and maintenance of the software/hardware under the charge of the PI


Requirements

The appointee should have a strong foundation in fluid dynamics and understanding of fluid (air and water) flow is important. Appointee should also have experience with design of experiments, carrying out experiments and results analysis. Prior experience working with membrane systems will be a plus.


	A recognised degree from a good University
	B.Eng or M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, chemical or environmental engineering
	Strong foundation in Fluid Dyanmics
