Our?Centre for Society and Mental Health is a cross-Faculty initiative between the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP) and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN).?

The centre aims to better understand the complex interrelationships between society and mental health, with a commitment to:?

To help us complete this work, we are looking for a Research Associate to help ensure we meet our commitments.

About the role

You will work closely with Prof. Ben Geiger and Prof. Karen Glaser as part of the Centre’s ‘Work, Welfare Reform and Mental Health’ programme. This involves collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers as well as the Centre’s academic and community partners. ?

Additionally, you will collaborate with researchers in the Centre’s Cross-Centre Hub on Data Resources to investigate intersecting disadvantages on mental distress and develop new projects.? You will also work in full partnership with experts-by-experience or members of affected communities.

Using your experience in quantitative data analysis, you will examine the links between mental distress and health-related inactivity across work, care and welfare. You will also explore how individuals experiencing mental distress and their carers can remain in work, as well as the relationship between mental distress, workplace inclusion, and the evolving nature of work.

The post holder will commit 0.2 FTE of their time to the delivery of teaching in their faculty. This will be agreed with your line manager and may include leading or teaching on a module and supervising dissertations and student projects.? In additional there is an expectation that the post holder will develop independent research, including fellowship applications, with the support of the Centre.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30.04.2028 in first instance, view to extending subject to funding.

	Relevant previous experience of working on interdisciplinary and/or international research projects
	A desire and capacity to communicate effectively with, and influence, wider research, business, NGO and policy communities.
	Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with experts-by-experience or individuals from affected communities

Description of HTMR entity
The High Throughput Multidisciplinary Research (HTMR) laboratory aims for an interdisciplinary, diverse and cross-cutting approach to an entrepreneurial ecosystem directly related to its industrial and socio-economic environment in Morocco and Africa. HTMR provides highly automated and parallel approaches to the development of new materials and processes. HTMR allows scientists from all UM6P research community to develop automated workflows that ultimately increase precision and efficiency and reduces the time and cost involved in their development pathways. The wide expertise developed by the researchers working at the HTMR, plays a pivotal link between the initial proof of concepts and the consolidation of the results and their viability. Thus, the validation is monitored through design of experiments and optimization of workflows much more rapidly than conventional approaches.
