We are seeking a results-oriented, empathetic leader with excellent communication and organisational skills to oversee the operational management of the Academic and Programme Advisory Office at Maynooth University. This permanent appointment, within the Student Skills and Success division of the Office for Students and Learning, offers a unique opportunity to shape a crucial student service dedicated to empowering students to navigate their academic journeys and achieve their academic goals and success.The successful candidate will lead the Academic and Programme Advisory team, collaborating closely with colleagues across Student Skills and Success, the Office for Students and Learning, and the broader university community, as well as with the Maynooth Students’ Union. The Academic and Programme Advisory Office Manager will play a key role in driving innovation within the service. The appointee will be instrumental in nurturing and developing a growing team, enhancing academic and programme advisory services, fostering strong partnerships and collaborations with university stakeholders, and providing advice, guidance, and support that equips students with accurate information, guidance, and tools necessary to excel and realise their potential during their time at MU.

This role plays a central part in supporting Maynooth University’s strategic plan (2023-2028) and one of its core Students and Learning goals: “To integrate and expand high-quality, technology-enabled student support services in partnership with students.”

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience in student support and/or advisory roles within higher education, demonstrate a strong understanding of best practices in the sector, and uphold a student-centred ethos combined with a genuine passion for student well-being, engagement, and success. Reporting to the Head of Student Skills and Success, the new manager will ensure that the Academic and Programme Advisory Office aligns with institutional priorities, addresses the diverse needs of MU students and staff, and leads a service that is empathetic, proactive, solutions-focused, and centred around our students.

Salary:

Administrative Officer I (AOI):?€58,634 - €83,657 p.a (9 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

About us:

This exciting role is based with the world-renowned Genes & Health research programme, investigating health and disease in British Bangladeshis and Pakistanis. The postholder will perform research in a prestigious award from the Medical Research Council, designating us a Longitudinal Population Study, in which KCL is leading on mental health and cognition assessments of >25,000 participants. The role will be enthusiastically supported by Genes & Health leadership team and collaborators across KCL and QMUL, external scientific partners and NHS organisations. The postholder will be embedded within the multidisciplinary Genes & Health team and the KCL Mental Health BioResource theme, who work cohesively together, and the post will be well-supported with training and professional development.

Our study will focus on common mental health disorders and conditions, namely depression and anxiety in this group, as well as cognition. The research will focus on developing, optimizing, and delivering questionnaires and enabling a wide array of psychology, psychiatric, and genetic research. The post-holder will be encouraged to develop their own research ideas. This work will help provide a deeper understanding of disorder and disease mechanisms in this recontactable community-based cohort, with available high quality linked electronic health and genetic data, including GWAS and exome sequencing data. This research will platform further ground-breaking research aimed at improving mental health treatments in this community.

About the role:

We seek to recruit a postdoctoral researcher and analyst for the Genes and Health LPS Study Mental Health Project that aims to carry out detailed, online mental health and cognitive assessment of a cohort of >25,000 individuals from the Genes & Health study. This project is being carried out by King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, and King’s Health Partners.

The successful candidate will need to lead and engage with initiatives to establish and build relationships with the Genes & Health study to roll out a new arm of the project, for mental health and cognition. We seek to hire a candidate who is personable and able to work collaboratively to carry out research in underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. Aside from data analyses, there is potential to facilitate Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement sessions with relevant communities to discuss the design, implementation and dissemination of the research. The postholder will be supported in this work by the experienced Genes & Health team, including bilingual staff, but due to the sensitive nature of these community sessions, we will require the chosen candidate to possess good interpersonal communication skills, to handle these conversations with professionalism and care.

The post-holder may also supervise junior staff and assist in the submission of ethics applications, including protocols and amendments, hosting meetings and presentations to update on the project progress. It will be the post-holder’s overall duty to lead on day-day aspects of this project, and to facilitate its success.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 2 years initially.

	PhD or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field. MSc/BSc applications will be considered if relevant coordination/project management experience is present.

	Fluency in Urdu/Sylheti/Bangla

We are seeking a highly accomplished research leader and engager to develop and lead a sustainable program of applied and translational engineering research in the application of big energy data and AI applied to Distributed Energy Resources Management. The Industry Chair in Energy will provide senior leadership with a strategic vision for developing and implementing research strategies, building research capability and capacity, and demonstrating impact. They will also play a key role in turning the proposal of the Living Laboratory into a reality, making strides toward the development and implementation of the Laboratory in Springfield. This is an exciting career opportunity which will see the Industry Chair recruit and build a team of research fellows and research higher degree students, as well as embed research within community energy generation, storage and usage management and contributing towards net zero goal.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lecturer in Animal Behaviour to join our team. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, including lectures, tutorials, workshops, labs, and fieldtrips; training sessional assistants, and co-convening courses from undergraduate to masters level. Beyond teaching, you'll undertake original research in animal behaviour, preferably on birds, amphibians, reptiles or bats. You will also contribute to the teaching, postgraduate supervision and administrative requirements of the School within the Ecology, Biodiversity and Animal Behaviour Team.
