CMAC is a world leading medicines manufacturing research centre based in the Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) at the University of Strathclyde. The Centre works closely with leading pharmaceutical companies to transform the way that medicines are developed and made and support a portfolio of research programmes to deliver our shared vision.

Applications are invited for project scientists and project engineers (Grade 7) to work on Platform 3 of the EPSRC MediForge: Industry 5.0 Medicines Manufacturing Research Hub (www.cmac.ac.uk) being delivered by CMAC.

The Hub comprises a multidisciplinary team of academics and researchers located across five leading UK Universities (Strathclyde, Leeds, Sheffield, Imperial College and Glasgow School of Art) providing a platform for collaborative research, training and knowledge exchange in the area of advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing. The MediForge Hub was awarded under EPSRC’s Manufacturing Hubs for A Sustainable Future (Round 2) call and aims to develop a systems level approach for predictive design of sustainable, resilient and human-centric future medicines manufacturing covering multiple stages across drug substance and drug product processing. The CMAC Hub has a large and vibrant programme with key Industry partners including AZ, Chiesi, Lilly, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi, Takeda and UCB with a broad range of technology companies. The Hub also benefits from significant recent capital investments through our ?33M UK RPIF Data Lab partnership creating a world class suite of advanced processing, automation, analysis, digital technologies and computational infrastructure to support MediForge research.

A key goal of Platform 3 is to deliver a reconfigurable manufacturing research testbed for resilient supply. This involves integration and operation of modular process testbeds utilising an optimised, customisable system of close coupled continuous and batch systems spanning chemical synthesis, purification and isolation through to drug product manufacture. The scientists and engineers within platform 3 will work closely with the other technical platform teams (Platform 1 – materials sparing, high throughput process development. Platform 2- development of an end-to-end digital twin to enable whole process design and optimisation) to deliver an agile end-to-end pilot scale medicines manufacturing platform and data, verified designs, scale-up and tech transfer models for sustainable and resilient manufacturing.

The successful candidate will have significant practical experience in chemical or pharmaceutical processing in a laboratory or pilot plant environment. The candidate must have technical qualifications in a relevant subject (chemical engineering, chemistry, process manufacturing, materials science, pharmaceutical science or a related discipline). The candidate must have as a minimum an HNC/HND. Candidates with a degree/PhD will also be considered. Familiarity with basic data science principles and application of process modelling will also be beneficial however training will be provided.

Working knowledge of processes such as liquid phase synthesis, crystallisation from solutions, filtration, drying, powder processing and tablet manufacture would be highly advantageous. Working knowledge of associated analytical techniques for chemical and physical analysis (e.g. HPLC, particle sizing, spectroscopic analysis) for in-line or at line analysis would be beneficial to role. Familiarity with use of process control systems such as SCADA, PAT, instrument data logging etc. would be useful.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write clearly and succinctly for dissemination of plans, protocols and outputs to different audiences. You must also be able to work as a member of a team and have excellent organisational skills. The candidate will be expected to interact across a larger team comprising scientists, engineers, data scientists and software scientists to deliver physical processes as well as process understanding using digital tools such as models. The candidate should be able to manage their own activities and prioritise own workload within agreed objectives to ensure that all activities are completed to deadlines.

The Division of Information Technology (DIT) is committed to a strong service culture and focuses on delivering 'fit for purpose quality services to the University community.

You will join the university-wide service desk; a central contact point for student and staff related IT issues at Charles Sturt. You will be required to provide timely support within defined service levels whilst contributing to the continual improvement and development of services and knowledge that DIT provide.

In this position, you will be responsible for IT support, maintenance and security of desktop computing, audio visual, video conferencing and network infrastructure environments. You will have a particular focus on supporting the expanded teaching and learning space, including rapid response to technology related issues.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to join School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering.

The position will contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching including teaching in the highly successful Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Construction Management and Quantity Surveying), where QUT is known for industry connections, real-world application of theory and evidence-based practice. The successful incumbent will have a record of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and bring strength to all aspects of quality teaching, including conceptualising, designing, delivering and reviewing curricula. Teaching areas of particular interest include – but are not limited to – methods of measurement, contract administration, and cost planning and control. The successful candidate will also provide high-impact research outcomes, delivered in collaboration with researchers across the School, Faculty and the University and with external partners in government and industry.

The Faculty of Bio and Environmental Sciences is looking for a

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN/LABORATORY COORDINATOR IN ECOLOGICAL AND EVOLUTIONARY GENOMICS AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY.

The position is permanent, with a 6-month trial period. The position starts 1st June 2025, or by mutual agreement.

Research technician/laboratory coordinator assists Faculty research teams in conducting molecular biology and genomic analyses in ecologically relevant species. Tasks include, for instance, DNA and RNA extraction, next-generation sequencing (e.g. bulk and single-cell RNA-seq), targeted SNP assay development and analysis, and related bioinformatic methodologies. Additional tasks may include ordering reagents, database maintenance, assistance with animal and plant experiments, training new lab members and assisting other lab members as needed.

The successful candidate is expected to have experience with at least some of the above-mentioned techniques and be enthusiastic about learning others. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with excellent organizational skills and good English communication skills. We appreciate a cooperative attitude and enthusiasm for learning new techniques and skills.

The salary for the position is determined according to the demand level of other staff in the universities' salary system. The requirement level of the research technician/laboratory coordinator is 6-8. In addition to the task-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance is paid.
