Senior Lecturer - General Education Unit

Job Purpose

The General Education Unit invites applications for a faculty position at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer rank. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Arabic, Islamic, and Emirates (Gulf) studies or a relevant discipline, together with a minimum of five years of related experience (eight years for a senior post) at a recognized, top-tier institution.

Required Experience:


	Strong background in Arabic, Islamic, and UAE studies
	Experience teaching courses in both Arabic and English
	Experience in teaching online and in hybrid environments, both synchronous and asynchronous
	Excellent skills in creating tutorial videos, recorded lectures, and interactive multimedia teacher-student interface
	Strong background in innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and learning, especially pertaining to teaching technologies along with online and hybrid platforms
	Strong familiarity in using digital teaching tools and Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard


We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and tech-savvy Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to join us. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses related to Arabic and Islamic studies, as well as Emirates studies. This position involves developing and delivering courses in different methods, including on-campus, online, and hybrid formats (both synchronous and asynchronous). The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum.
Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry.
In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT.

Key Responsibilities


	Design and teach labs & practice modules.
	Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP).
	Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry.
	Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research.
	Ensure safety in labs.


Job Requirements


	A good degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fields. Possessing a Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous.
	Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering environment.
	Have deep, hands-on competence in the following areas:
	
		High voltage switching
		Engineering design, modelling & analysis of conventional power, wind & solar farms
		Engineering design of transmission & distribution substations, electrical distribution systems of industries and commercial buildings
		Power system protection application and relay coordination
		Digital/Analogue/Power electronics
		IoT/Micro-controller application
	
	
	It will be advantageous with working knowledge of/as:
	
		Knowledge in programming/using Python, MATLAB, LTspice, IoT platform.
		Authorised high voltage switching Engineer.
	
	
	Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to SIT.
	Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
	Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
	Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

The School of Graduate Studies (GS) is established for strengthening the central support for postgraduate programmes as well as the monitoring of their quality in alignment with the University’s strategic direction of expanding and providing quality postgraduate education. The GS is expanding its scope of research and knowledge transfer programmes in promoting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and development projects related to Policy Studies and Management, Health Studies, International Higher Education, Policy and Management and Urban and Housing Studies. The GS is searching for staff who can support research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities in the following areas:

About the role

The post holder will support the coordination and delivery of strategic capacity-building schemes for clinical academics, including the new Clinical Research Excellence Fellowship programmes, and the Research Catalyst Fellowships for consultant-level healthcare professionals.?

By supporting these schemes, the postholder will build knowledge and expertise in growing a clinical academic pipeline and community, and ensure the researchers enrolled on CTM programmes benefit from the world-class clinical academic training environment provided through the organisations of KHP. They will coordinate cohort-building opportunities across the programmes, and proactively seek ways to provide and analyse data, streamline and enhance processes, and create opportunities for the benefit of all involved.?

This is a full-time post (0.8FTE considered) and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027, with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. KCATO and the CTM works in a hybrid manner; we operate across all of the KHP campuses so flexibility in location is required. ?

Two vacancies have arisen whilst members of staff are on maternity leave and applications are now invited from candidates seeking an exciting and challenging role for a period of approximately 12 months, starting from July 2025 (exact dates to be confirmed).

As HR Adviser, you will provide professional advice and support on a broad range of generalist HR issues to a dedicated Faculty area, including recruitment and selection and employee relations, and will contribute to University-wide activities such as policy development, engagement with trade unions, committees, HR projects and working groups.

To be considered for the role, you will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent relevant experience, and be CIPD qualified. You will have a proven track record of working in HR at a professional level as well as successfully and independently handling an HR casework portfolio, including disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings, as well as resolving informal issues. You will have knowledge and experience of pay and reward systems including job evaluation and equal pay compliance, experience of supporting restructuring activities and consulting and negotiating with trade unions. You will have an ability to successfully adopt a consultancy style and an HR business partnering approach, have a well-developed knowledge of relevant HR best practice and employment legislation, an ability to interpret relevant University policies, employment legislation and good practice and apply it independently to complex cases. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to persuade, influence and articulate complex information in an accessible way, and present to a range of audiences.

Reporting to the relevant HR Manager, you will operate largely independently within a busy environment, dealing with diverse stakeholders on a range of HR matters, To be successful in this role, a flexible, problem-solving approach is essential to meeting the demands of the posts.
