This role has been designed to meet increased demand for policy engagement support from our globally ?renowned researchers in the faculty of Environment and Life Sciences. The successful candidate will be capable of moving between a broad range of subject areas to support colleagues a diverse range of disciplines. They will be adept at influencing senior decision makers within government with a track record of engaging with parliamentarians in their role of scrutinising the executive. As part of the national agenda of 'Mission based policy making' the successful candidate will have good grasp of the current political drivers for policy change, as well as a strong understanding of the changing nature of health and social care at a regional level in an English context, specifically an understanding of Integrated Care Systems. This role is well suited to those with a background in HE knowledge brokerage, public affairs (particularly for third sector organisations), local or national government or parliamentary support (i.e. MP staffers, POST or Select Committee support staff). This role will work closely with senior leadership within the faculty and across the University. As a hybrid team we have an expectation of part time team members being on campus?at least one day a week.?

Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique model of higher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced developed cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai.

WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,100 undergraduate students, and it is now in the midst of a rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 7,000 students within the next three years. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean University.

About the Job:

Due to rapid expansion, the Department of Educational Leadership is hiring FOUR qualified and experienced faculty members to teach Master's and Doctorate programs in educational leadership. Besides teaching and research, faculty are expected to advise students to develop dissertation topics and assist in all aspects of the writing process to produce high-quality dissertations. In addition, the candidate is expected to contribute to the growth of the programs, including, but not limited to, curriculum development, program assessment, student recruitment/advisement, office hours, and internship opportunities.

This position will be offered as a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor or at the Professor level. All positions will have an initial 3-year contract that is renewable.

The University will provide start-up grants to support candidates in starting their research projects. After joining WKU, faculty have the opportunity to apply for a variety of internal research funding, including international research collaboration grants (up to 80,000 RMB per project in the areas of education) and external funding opportunities at the municipal, provincial, and national levels.

Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor (Two Higher Education tracks, Two K-12 education tracks)

A tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor is a full-time, 10-month employee who teaches 24 credits per academic year (6-credit course release per academic year will be offered for grant proposal development and other substantial research initiatives). A start-up grant?(up to 80,000 RMB)?will be provided to launch student-engaging research programs. The candidate will be expected to participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including high-quality teaching, research, advising, student learning support, and service to the university and/or professional community. Faculty positions at WKU offer:

You will be responsible for the recording, liaison with teams and updating of all fire compartmentation with the central Health & Safety team, specifically fire officer duties. You will coordinate and update estates policies and procedures as they relate to fire door statutory compliance, updating building asset databases as required.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Fire Safety professional with a skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ Level 4 or basic qualification and relevant experience with a detailed understanding of legislation, guidelines and best practice relating to fire door management. You will also have proven experience of planning and progressing work activities within broad professional guidelines and/or broad organisational policy.

Founded in 1999, the Department (https://www.ln.edu.hk/cultural/) is the forerunner of offering a BA degree in Cultural Studies in Hong Kong. Our Master of Cultural Studies Programme, launched in 2003, gives students from mixed academic and working backgrounds the opportunity to reflect on and devise alternative ways to approach their ongoing practices. Our Research Postgraduate Programmes (MPhil & PhD) train aspiring researchers to develop in-depth inquiry into specific areas of interest. We promote interdisciplinary research that foregrounds new ideas and drives societal changes. General Requirements

The Department seeks to appoint a Research Assistant Professor with an established record in scholarship and refereed publications. Candidates should have a PhD in a cognate discipline and show evidence of being a research active scholar committed to developing interdisciplinary cultural studies projects covering at least two of the following areas: Hong Kong/China in the world, Inter-Asia cultural research, digital humanities, gender/sexuality, class, race/ethnicity. Priority will be given to those who can show early evidence of international quality research and publications.

Candidates should have obtained/been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification for no more than?five years?prior to the commencement of the appointment. The appointee is expected to conduct focused research in his/her areas of expertise, publish scholarly outputs in respectable refereed international journals, and apply for competitive peer-reviewed grants offered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council, other local/overseas competitive grants and/or fellowship schemes. Teaching experience at both undergraduate and taught master’s programme levels is a definite advantage. The appointee should be able to teach and develop courses on cultural studies theory, methods in cultural research, globalization, popular culture in Asia, gender and sexualities.
