Your next career opportunityA unique opportunity is available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to the ARC-funded project ‘Do-It-Yourself Commemoration of the Dead’. This interdisciplinary research, led by the established DeathTech Research Team, explores how contemporary do-it-yourself commemorative practices are reshaping the ways Australians memorialise and care for the dead. In this role, you will work closely with a collaborative team of five Chief Investigators and two Partner Investigators across anthropology, philosophy, history, computing, and information science. You will contribute to project coordination, literature reviews, data collection and analysis and the development of high-quality research publications. Based at the University of Melbourne in the School of Social and Political Sciences, you will also engage with scholars from the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies, and the School of Computing and Information Systems, alongside international partners from the University of Oxford and the University of Colorado. The Sustainable Nutrition Initiative (SNi?), part of the Riddet Institute, is a dynamic and multi-skilled team committed to transforming evidence-based nutrition research into practical solutions for enhancing global sustainable nutrition. With extensive international experience, our team comprises of leading Food Scientists, Nutrition Scientists, and Mathematical Modellers, all working together to drive impactful change.

This full-time (37.5 hours per week) position is fixed-term for three years until September 2028, based at our Manawatū campus in Palmerston North.

We are seeking a high-achieving researcher with a strong background in computational modelling, data science and scientific communication. The successful applicant will be focused on modelling the New Zealand food system as part of the Kai anamata mō Aotearoa research programme, using their skills to connect diverse data sets to achieve a holistic view of sustainable food systems.

The successful candidate will have:

The appointment would start on 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible afterwards, and it is intended to grow our research portfolio and enhance our curriculum of research-led education to benefit from recent developments in Mathematical Sciences. This opportunity arises following a significant investment by the University of Southampton to address foundational issues in Data Science with applications to AI and Sustainability. You will be passionate about research and education and will be looking for an opportunity to take your research to the next level in an area that extends the existing research expertise within the School. You will have the opportunity to set the research agenda, establish and lead a research group, and collaborate with colleagues across the School and the University. This appointment is a part of our focussed strategic investment into the computational and theoretical aspects of mathematical modelling and data science. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Officer to join our Food Structure team. This full-time (37.5 hours per week) position is fixed-term for two years. This position is based at our Manawatū campus in Palmerston North.

The successful candidate will conduct pioneering research to understand the digestion behaviour of various food products using in vitro dynamic digestion models. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the CoRE programme to enhance our understanding of the relationships between food structure, digestion, nutrition, and health.

The successful candidate will have:
