Entries have opened for the 21st edition of the annual Times Higher Education Awards, widely known as the “Oscars of higher education”.
Universities in the UK and Ireland wishing to put themselves forward have until?11.55pm on 9 June to submit their entries.
This year the awards span 20 categories covering a wide range of university activity, including the prestigious University of the Year title.
The 2025 awards will see the addition of a new category, Specialist Institution of the Year, covering institutions that offer a majority of their courses in one broad subject area.

At the awards ceremony – taking place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 13 November – a new recipient will receive this year’s?THE Outstanding Achievement Award, decided by THE’s senior team. It follows veteran broadcaster Melvyn Bragg being honoured at last year’s ceremony.
Shortlisted entries will be announced on 4 September and winners will be decided by a panel of expert judges.
