David Phillips Fellowships: to support outstanding young scientists who wish to establish themselves as independent researchers. For scientists who have up to five and a half years active postdoctoral research experience.

Research Development Fellowships: to give established researchers the opportunity for a period in full-time research free from teaching and administrative duties. For scientists who are full-time members of academic staff of a UK university who have worked for a minimum of five years in their current or similar post. Awards are to meet the costs of a replacement to perform teaching and related duties.

Professorial Fellowships: to enable senior researchers to devote themselves to full-time research and to be released by their institution from non-research duties. Applicants should already be recognised at an international level as outstanding researchers.
