The National Audit Office confirmed on Wednesday that it is monitoring an investigation launched by the Department for Education and Employment's European Social Fund Unit into what the DfEE described as "irregularities" associated with ESF funding in the education sector. The investigation was sparked by Ieuan Pugh, principal of Loughborough College of Art and Design, who expressed concerns, in April last year regarding ESF funds.
