Soil and water could be the source of new anti-cancer drugs, scientists from the Cancer Research Campaign have said. They have developed such drugs from compounds produced by common bacteria which grow in soil or water. Michael Shipman and his CRC team at Loughborough University's department of chemistry have cloned a series of compounds known as the azinomycins.
