Brussels, 20 Jan 2003
The EU funded ADONIS (application development outsourcing to the newly independent states) consortium will present the project at a workshop in Berlin on 31 March.
The initiative, funded under the information society technologies section of the Fifth Framework Programme, seeks to assist European organisations in the development of software products in collaboration with programmers in the Newly Independent States (NIS) of Russia, Ukraine and Armenia.
Some 10 partners from Belgium, Germany, Finland, Russia, Armenia and Ukraine are involved in the project. By designing and implementing a pan-European software outsourcing service, the project members hope to deliver savings on professional charges, staff, and office costs, and give enterprises access to qualified engineers working to European software and quality standards.
The workshop in Berlin will be hosted by Wista Management and will be aimed primarily at the German market. Similar events are planned for Brussels, Kiev and Helsinki. Participants will conduct a review of the project, its objectives and achievements, and listen to presentations of analysis of the NIS software outsourcing market.

Representatives of German companies will share their experiences of software outsourcing to the NIS, and a roundtable discussion will look at future collaborations in the field.
Participation in the ADONIS pilot trial projects is still possible for those enterprises with a relevant software development programme.
