Thanks to the article for University Mental Health Day by Liz Morrish (“Audit culture is a resigning matter”, Features, 2 March), I was reminded of “the right to intellectual and professional self-determination” and the “threats to mental health in academic life”.
In the fictional Institute for Higher Learning run by Professor Xavier in the X-Men franchise, I especially admire the member called for her adaptability and self-determination. However, sometimes I wonder if the “stress” that Morrish writes about is causing me to experience a mental problem, the Capgras delusion. In that tragic delusion, one sees a familiar face with the bizarre belief that they have been .
Thankfully, beautiful, blue, academic shape-shifters exist only in fiction!
