(Photograph) - Pulling Power: Lorenzo Komboa Ervin, the former Black Panther who hijacked a plane to escape an FBI shoot-to-kill order, was given a standing ovation when he spoke at the London School of Economics last week at the start of a ten-day tour of Britain. He praised the role of academics in the American civil rights movement: "They didn't just stay on campus and debate, they committed their lives to the struggle."
