No wonder Steve Molyneux says: "There are a number of initiatives... but they are not talking to each other." ("Adult access model muddled", THES , September 7).

Neither Sir David Watson (front page) nor Brian Ramsden (Analysis) refer to the Quality Assurance Agency access to higher education recognition scheme. It provides a quality framework for adult returners to gain a qualification tailored for non-traditional learners. Where are the funds to ensure its expansion?
