Bill McGuire, in his review of Edward Bryant's Tsunami ( THES , April 19), writes that "tsunami" is a Japanese word derived from "tsun", for harbour, and "ami", for wave. But "nami" is Japanese for wave and "tsu" can mean harbour. In Japanese it is written as two characters tsu and nami.
