?About the Role?

The College of Education, Psychology and Social Work requires a Lecturer in Social Psychology to make independent, high-quality contributions to research on the drivers of reactionary collective action, and deliver innovative and inspiring teaching.

Under the broad direction of the Chief Investigator, the successful candidate will contribute to project design and implementation, the analysis of data and the preparation of manuscripts for publication and conference presentations addressing the social psychology of political engagement and extremism. In addition, the position will contribute to the preparation of applications for externally-funded research grants. The teaching component includes the development of innovative teaching materials, multi-mode teaching delivery, including face to face and online, and other innovative and contemporary teaching and learning strategies, appropriate for the discipline.

About You?

To be successful in this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:


	Completion of a PhD, or equivalent qualification in Psychology.
	Demonstrated evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with social psychology, including evidence of quality publications.
	Demonstrated evidence of, or capacity to, undertake high quality teaching in a tertiary environment, including involvement in topic coordination and curriculum design.
	Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry.


Any experience supervising honours and higher degree students as well as experience attracting external competitive grants would be beneficial.

About the Role

Working under general supervision from the Senior Manager, Healthcare Simulation and liaising with course coordinators, academic and other laboratory staff, the Technical Officer will be responsible for assisting in a range of health science technical functions, including laboratory activities, to support the programs of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The role requires preparing the laboratory environment for Health Sciences and Clinical Skills Workshops, to support the learning requirements of students working in the Health Science Laboratories in accordance with university course requirements.

The incumbent will assist with Work Health & Safety (WHS) within teaching spaces including Work Procedures (SWP), Risk Assessments (RA) and Workplace Inspection (WI) records, equipment, hazardous chemicals management (e.g. CHEMWATCH) and dangerous goods.

About You

With previous experience in a clinical or Health Science laboratory environment being an advantage, you have an understanding, working with new and emerging Science-based laboratory technologies and can successfully demonstrate your knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, including risk management.

We are currently seeking?full-time Study Skills Lecturers to develop and teach study skills across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level. We require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends.

As a Study Skills Lecturer you will work??in close collaboration with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills within the curriculum across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level. Responsibilities include:

Description

The Planetary Group lead by Professor Dobbs-Dixon in the Physics Department in the Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Scientist in the area of exoplanetary science.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge independent research in exoplanetary atmospheres, focusing on theoretical and/or numerical modeling utilizing state-of-the-art observational facilities such as the James Webb and Hubble Space Telescopes. Expertise in areas such as atmospheric radiative, physical, and chemical processes; cloud formation; hydrodynamics; and multidimensional forward and retrieval modeling is essential. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with both internal and external researchers, foster new collaborations, and actively bring innovative research projects to the department. Involvement in current and future space missions, proven success in securing external research funding, and experience in managing PhD students, research assistants, and undergraduate students is required.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.?

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop integrated control algorithms for autonomous cubesatellite formation flying. The controllers that will be developed during this project will differ from previous work on this topic by merging guidance laws never applied before to spacecraft formation flying while embedding collision avoidance capacities into a single control strategy. In general terms, the proposed control approaches will force the dynamical performance of one or several followers, with respect to a leader, to asymptotically track a time-varying nominal trajectory, while the threat of collisions between formation members is eliminated by means of repelling accelerations generated by a collision avoidance scheme. The controllers will also be designed to account for and mitigate the orbital perturbation effects due to J2 and atmospheric drag. To critically evaluate and validate the design of the controllers, test cases based on the physical and orbital features of existing or planned cubesatellite formation flying missions will be implemented, while also increasing the number of elements in the formation when considering scenarios such as reconfigurations and position switching in low-Earth elliptical reference orbits. The final stage of this project will further validate the work done by embedding the control algorithms into an orbital control system which is integrated with a cubesat propulsion system. Currently there are no OCS integrated with a propulsion system that can natively perform autonomous orbital operations.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
	
		Develop, test and deploy spacecraft simulations and practical solutions to meet the project’s technical objectives
		Write up research findings for publication in leading discipline specific journals
		Use creativity to analyse and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes.
		Continually update knowledge and understanding in field of specialism.
		Attend and contribute to relevant project meetings.
		Contribute to collaborative decision making with colleagues in areas of research.
		Plan and manage own research activity in collaboration with others.
		Communicate material of both a non-technical and specialist nature to a broad audience using a range of media.
	
	
	Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
	Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.


Job Requirements


	Have relevant competence in the areas of science and engineering
	Have a degree in STEM discipline. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous.
	Knowledge of control engineering, autonomous systems, orbital mechanics, programming, spacecraft engineering and specialist software tools will be advantageous
	Experience of system integration and hardware in the loop simulation are desirable
